Sylvia Childers, 86, of Mooresville, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026 after a short illness.

She was born June 7, 1940 in Concord, NC. Sylvia was a loving and caring woman. She worked and retired from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, after which she sat with and took care of elderly people. She loved her family and would do anything for them. She was an avid reader and loved to do puzzles. She was one of the humblest people you would ever meet.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank James; her mother, Hazel McNeil James; four brothers; one sister; and her great-grandson, Logan Broome.

Survivors include four children: Cherri Hudson, David Childers, Paul Childers (Regina), and Sheila Faubert; six grandchildren; Mandy Ross (John), Brad Childers, Frank Hoyle, Jeff Hoyle, Bryan Hudson (Ashly), and Ashely Owens (Brandon); eleven great-grandchildren: Kaleb Fox (KD Lynn), Jordan Childers, Jaden Broome, Lucus Childers, Brennan Hoyle, Chandler Hoyle, Landon Hildebrandt, Mason Owens, Charlotte Hudson, and Lily Hudson; one great-great-grandchild; Nova Lynn Fox; three siblings; Elaine Bass, Jody Wingler (Buck), Ricky James (Becky) and two nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Sloan Lake Community Church, 1 Glory Drive, China Grove, NC 28023.
