Stephen Allen Taschereau, 71, of Rockwell, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. He passed away at W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 12, 1954, in Winsted, Connecticut, to the late Andrew Sabo and Marian Louise Hall.
Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1981. Following his military service, he spent time on the open road as a truck driver, enjoying the opportunity to see the country along the way. He loved music, his country, and most importantly, Jesus Christ. His faith was an important part of his life, and he held a deep love for the Lord.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Jamelle; his children, Penelope Earley (Ron), Jason Taschereau (Janel), Cassi Pope (Brandon), and Stephenie Taschereau; his grandchildren, Jared Lenoir (Stephanie), Sydni Supple (Cade), Sarah Earley (Rito Garcia), Curtis Earley (Molly Logue), Alex, Cheyenne, and Levi Taschereau, Caitlyn and Blaze Pope, and Olivia and Charlotte Sibley; his great-grandchildren, Alexis, Matthew, and Joshua Perkins, Carson, Jase, and Jared Jr. (JJ) Lenoir, Beckett Supple, Emmett and Elliana Garcia, and Sawyer and Stryder Earley; and his great-great-grandson, Malakai Sewell.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell, North Carolina. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service.
As we celebrate Stephen’s life, we take comfort in the hope and promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Though he will be deeply missed by those who loved him, we find peace in God’s promise that death is not the end for those who believe in Him.
