Joe Luther Gallimore, 84, of Rockwell, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

Born on September 21, 1942, in Rockwell, Joe was the son of the late Bethel and Mae Gallimore. A lifelong hard worker, Joe dedicated a combined 40 years of service to Cannon Mills, working at Plant 4 in Kannapolis and Plant 11 in Rockwell.

Joe was happiest when he had something to tinker with or a project to work on around the house, but gardening held a special place in his heart. And no Thursday was complete without meeting up with his buddies in the “breakfast group” at Hardee’s, a tradition filled with good food, familiar faces, and fellowship.

Above all, Joe’s greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind. He shared 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Barbara Gallimore, whom he married on July 4, 1964. Together, they built a life filled with years of memories, love, and family. Their long journey together stands as a testament to a lifetime of commitment and devotion.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, those left to cherish Joe’s memory include his son, Danny Gallimore (wife, Angela); his daughter, Lori Vance; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, James Gallimore, and his sister, Mary Norris.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Joe’s final resting place will be Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
