Mrs. Virginia Ellen Mace Thomas, 82 of Rockwell passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011 ather residence. Mrs. Thomas was born in McDowell County on December 13, 1928 a daughter of the late Alfonzo Mace and Irene McDaniel Mace.

Mrs. Thomas was educated in the Thomasville Schools, was a homemaker and had worked for Eckerd Drugs in Winston-Salem. She was of the Baptist Faith, enjoyed beingwith her family, sewing, reading, and crocheting.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Thomas, who died onNovember 12, 1989, and a grandson, Scott White.

Survivors include, three daughters, Ann Trexler and husband Butch of Rockwell, Kathy McBride of Winston-Salem and Ellen Hicks and husband, Joe of Lewisville, NC. Five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Wayne Waddell of Winston-Salem.
