Brenda Gail Lockhart, 70, of Lexington, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC surrounded by family. She was born on October 8, 1945 in Lexington, NC to the late Willis Leonard and Ella Jones Leonard.

Brenda was a Christian woman and spent most her time raising her five children. She enjoyed playing games on her computer and she loved to spend time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Jo Leonard; two brothers, Willie Leonard and Joe Leonard; and three sisters, Peggy Huffman, Evelyn Dayton, and Lilly Shrewsbury.

Brenda is survived by three sons, Jimmy Swicegood (Donna) of Lexington, NC, Charles Lockhart of Lexington, NC, and Anthony “Doc” Lockhart (Cindy) of Delco, NC; a daughter, Tina Mendoza of Lexington, NC; her ex-husband a loving father, Burnett Lockhart; a sister, Judy Ann Vestal of Lexington; fifteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday May 26, 2016 at 6:00 PM at First Pentecostal Holiness Church (1448 Hwy 64 East, Lexington, NC 27295) conducted by Pastor, J.C. Miles. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.
