Carol Ann grew up in Catawba County and met her future husband, Bennie Ray Norwood while both attended Bandy High School. Carol Ann was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Carol Ann dedicated her life to helping others and was actively involved in various charitable causes and school donations throughout her lifetime.

She was the founder and gifted leader of Norwood Garden Center in Charlotte, NC for 36 years. Her business reached well beyond its location, as “Charlotte’s largest and oldest Garden Center”. Carol Ann was sought after with her knowledge of gardening, indoor and outdoor plants, videos teaching gardening and arrangements, and interviewed by the local stations to advise Carolinians during frost warnings to protect their plants. She loved her customers as they became family and spring was a most special time with Norwood Garden Center and the family handling an overflow of business.

Carol divided her personal time with many interests. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She loved canning her mix of vegetables, tomato’s and pickles that family and friends enjoyed. Carol collected art and her long-time garden center displayed much of her collection. She also spent time at the family beach house in North Myrtle Beach. Carol just loved the beach with her husband Ben and family. Carol enjoyed a wonderful life with Ben and 63 years of marriage. She was a devout Christian and prayer warrior. She also loved being with her grandchildren and mentoring them in any way she could contribute, always with love.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Ray Norwood of Charlotte, and brother-in-law Lanny Hartsoe of Newton, NC.

She is survived by her children, Chris Norwood and wife Jera of Frog Pond, NC, Shelley Sealy and husband Mike of Waxhaw, NC, siblings with her sister Linda Howard and husband Robert of Sherrills Ford, NC, brother Bill Sigmon and wife Jane of Newton, NC, and sister Glenna Hartsoe of Newton, NC. She is survived by three grandchildren, Laven Norwood, Justin Sealy and Stephanie Taylor. She is also survived by her special nieces, nephews and other relatives.
