Charles Ray Hess “Chuck” went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

He was born in Salisbury on March 4, 1938 to David W. Hess and Inez Sebastian Hess. Chuck attended Boyden High School before entering the United States Air Force, where he met his wife Linda Saunders Hess. Chuck proudly served his country for 20 years. Upon his retirement from the Air Force he happily returned home to Salisbury.

Chuck owned and operated the Country Burger for over 30 years. He also served as a bar manager for Harold B. Jarret American Legion as well as Samuel C. Hart Post and the VFW Post in Salisbury.

In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by grandchildren, Michael, Jr. and Conner Wilson.

Chuck is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Linda Saunders Hess; son, Mike (Jacqueline); daughter, Mardy; grandchildren, Caleb, Christian, Carleigh, Gabriella and Jaclyn; great grandchildren, Archer and KJ.

A graveside service will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
