Charlie Clint Smithwick, 63, of Salisbury, North Carolina passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Salisbury, after a 7 year battle with kidney cancer.
Clint was born February 22, 1958 in Hawthorne, CA to Joel Edward “Ed” Smithwick Sr. and Hattie (Wilhoit) Smithwick. He grew up in Carson, California, graduating from Banning High School in 1976.
Clint worked as an auto mechanic his whole life and was very gifted at it. He even owned his own automotive repair shops in Platteville and Greeley, CO in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Clint never met a stranger! He was friendly, outgoing, and loved talking with people and helping others when he could. He loved spending time with his family: his wife, his kids, and grandkids. His hobbies included anything related to cars and guns. Despite the struggles of kidney cancer he maintained a positive attitude and always took the cancer head on. He continued working as an auto mechanic until 2 years ago when he retired.
Clint is survived by his wife Brenda Smithwick and their 2 grandkids they are raising: Heaven Watson and Kyle Watson, his daughter Michelle Brown (husband Nate Brown), their 4 kids: Brennan Coslett, Wynter Brown, Phoenix Brown, and Orion Brown, his daughter Andrea Godfrey (husband Michael Godfrey) and their son: Flynn Godfrey. 3 other grandkids: Aubreigh Watson, Lilly Elrod, and Jackson Elrod. His 3 brothers: Allen Smithwick (wife Darlene Smithwick), Jerry Smithwick (wife Janice Smithwick) and Joel Smithwick (wife Beth Smithwick). He was preceded in death by both his parents: Joel Edward Smithwick Sr. and Hattie Smithwick.
As per Clint’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association https://myimpact.kidneycancer.org/ or to the charity of your choice.
