In Loving Memory of Clyde Wilson Massey III
October 7, 1974 – March 31, 2026
Born in Campbellsville, Kentucky, Clyde made his home in Cleveland, North Carolina, where he built a life full of love, laughter, and strong roots.
Clyde is survived by his beloved daughter, Abigale Massey (Davinity), who was the light of his life; his fiancée, Crystal Mowery and boys he was raising with her, Jaxson and Hunter; his parents, Clyde Massey Jr. and Judith Massey; and his sisters, Kim Myers (Mark, Loren) and Rebecca Massey (Julia Best and Michelle Padgett). He is also survived by his half-siblings Scott Massey (Becky), Eric Massey (Lisa), and Velva Rowe (Pete), along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerami Anne (Hawkins) Massey. Her boys—Dakota, Brisen, and Braylen—brought him immense pride and love. He cared deeply for them, and even more so for the next generation they gave him to cherish.
Clyde was known by many names—Sonny, Sonny Boy, Fred, Gomer—and answered to them all with a grin. To know Clyde was to love him. He was funny, caring, quick-witted, and unapologetically opinionated, but above all, he was stubborn in the way only someone with a big heart can be. He loved his momma fiercely, deeply respected his daddy, and thanked God every day for his daughter.
He loved hard, and though he could sometimes be hard to love, those who knew him understood the depth of his loyalty and the strength of his spirit. Clyde was a country man through and through—he could often be found listening to Waylon Jennings or rocking out to AC/DC. Whether he was at the Massey Plantation, riding his motorcycle, bowling, or spending time with friends at his favorite watering holes, Clyde lived life on his own terms.
His memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely.
Services will be at Woodleaf Baptist Church, Saturday, April 11, visitation with the family at 11 am, service begins at noon. Lunch for the family after.
Carolina Cremation is honored to serve the Massey family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.
