Daniel Paul Cleveland, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025 at Trinity Oaks Health and Rehab in Salisbury, North Carolina, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Dan was born on July 15, 1937 in Jackson, Mississippi, to John Thomas Cleveland and Emma Floyd Meyers Cleveland. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Willie Ruth Cleveland Cunningham and brother-in-law Van Hugh Cunningham; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom Windel Cleveland, Sr. and Beatrice “Mickey” Michaels Cleveland of Jackson, Mississippi; Billy Frank Cleveland and Ouida Hewitt Cleveland of St. Francisville, Louisiana; and James Oliver Cleveland and Betty Jean Applewhite Cleveland of Dallas, Texas; and two nephews David Earl Cleveland and Samuel “Sam” Reed Cleveland.
He met Anna Marie Summers at Clinton High School and married on August 29, 1958 in Jackson, Mississippi. They raised two children and resided in Land O’ Lakes, Florida, for 43 years until they moved in 2016 to Rockwell, North Carolina, to be with family. Avid travellers, they spent 10 of their retirement years driving an RV from Florida to Alaska and alternating years to Nova Scotia. Dan was a loving husband, father, and Pop Pop. He had unconditional love for his family and friends, loved music and jokes, was a body builder, a master woodworker, a lifelong fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and a huge fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Survivors include: Anna Cleveland, his wife of 67 years; sister-in-law Judy Summers of Madison, MS; daughter Kim Pollard of Land O’ Lakes FL; son Paul Cleveland and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Cleveland of Rockwell NC; granddaughters Lani Michelle Pollard of Cumberland MD and Kacy Pollard and fiancé Michael Ottenberg of Land O’ Lakes FL; step-grandkids Brock Earle and Winter Croom; great granddaughter Aliyah Gibson; and nine nieces and nephews.
