Deemie Idell Pethel Boyd, 93, of China Grove, NC passed away on Saturday April 30, 2016 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House surrounded by family. Ms. Boyd was born on August 19, 1923 in Iredell County, to the late Ira J. Pethel and Lessie Overcash Pethel.

Deemie was a member of Chimebell Baptist Church in Aiken SC. During her lifetime, she worked as a millworker, a cook, and most importantly, a mother. She enjoyed cooking and canning in her free time and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Boyd; a son, Mike Seamon; a sister, Viola Pethel; and a brother, Bud Pethel.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Garmon (David) of China Grove, and Marie Smith (Ray) of Frogmore, SC; four sons, Bud Leonard (Sue) of Salisbury, Butch Leonard (Charla) of Sally, SC, Chuck Seamon of Vidor, TX, and Joe Seamon (Cheryl) of Aiken, SC; a sister, Mary Metcalf of Fayetteville; twenty one grandchildren, and forty four great grandchildren.

A family service was held over the weekend.
