Gary Wayne Norton entered the pearly gates of heaven on November 1, 2021. Gary was born to Charlie and Mary Norton on February 1, 1947. He was a 1965 graduate of South Rowan High School. Soon after graduation, he married the love of his life Brenda Griffin, in June 1965. Together they raised two children, Steve and Shannon. Gary and his family attended Landis Baptist Church.

Gary was an Industrial Engineer for China Grove Cotton Mills, where he spent nearly his entire career. After retiring from China Grove Textiles, he worked several years in maintenance at Carson High School.

Gary loved all kinds of sports, especially golf and baseball. His passion was golfing, which he did throughout his life. He is now playing on the green fairways of heaven.

One of Gary’s favorite sayings was, “There are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened.”

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda; son, Steve (Amanda) Norton; daughter, Shannon (Bryan) Moore all of China Grove; grandchildren, McKenzie (Jesse) Beaver of Rockwell, Chandler and Dillon Norton of China Grove; great grandchildren, Wylder Ware and Eliza Beaver of Rockwell; a sister, Carolyn Hollingsworth of Mt. Airy; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Norton, and brother Ronald.
