George “Al” Allan Smith, 86, of Mooresville, went to his heavenly home on Sunday October 11, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones. Al had been in declining health for the past four months. He was born on April 26, 1929 in Iredell County to the late George Hubert Smith and Macie Scercy Smith. Mr. Smith proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Al was a member of Unity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis and worked as an Agent for home Security Life Insurance. He enjoyed gardening and anything that involved being outdoors. Al loved to farm and was happiest when riding his tractor tending to the farm.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Hill Smith of Mooresville; a son, George Allan Smith Jr. of Mooresville; and a daughter, Cynthia Clarke and husband David of Mooresville.
