George Elliott Correll of Bessemer City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on August 11, 1945, George lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and an unwavering love for his family.
He cherished the time he spent with his beloved niece, Barbara, and his bonus grandson, Braydean. Whether sharing stories, laughing together, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments meant the world to him. He also loved spending time at his best friend Dean’s shop, where he could visit with friends, swap stories, and enjoy the fellowship that brought him so much happiness.
George shared a special bond with his loyal fur baby, Smokey, who was always by his side and brought him countless hours of love, comfort, and companionship.
His greatest pride, however, was his family. He was a devoted and loving Pop Pop to his beloved bonus grandson, Braydean Jensen Correll, whose life brought him endless happiness. He was also a cherished uncle, a loyal friend, and someone who never hesitated to lend a helping hand or share a smile.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Ray Correll and Leola Beal Correll; his brothers, Lester Ray Correll Jr. and Joe Dean Correll; his sister, Ocie Lee Correll; and his nephew, Daniel Allan Williamson ‘Danny’.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved bonus grandson, Braydean Jensen Correll; his nieces, Barbara Jean Correll and Amanda Correll Broome Gardner (Brooks); his nephew, Billy Dean Correll; his great-nephew, Austin Bailey Correll; his great-niece, Conner Danielle Broome; his lifelong best friend, Dean Hance; his faithful companion, Smokey; and many other relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and love.
George will be remembered for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to his family. Whether spending a peaceful day sharing stories or simply enjoying time with those he loved, he made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later time. Family and friends will be notified once arrangements have been finalized.
George’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to those he cared for will never be forgotten.
