Grover Kenneth “Ken” Dorman

Grover Kenneth “Ken” Dorman, 74, of Concord passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Ken was born on September 16, 1938 in Cowpens, SC, a son of the late Henry Copeland and Myrtle Clary Dorman.

Kenneth is a Veteran of the National Guard, he worked for and retired from IBM as a tool maker and trouble shooter. Ken is a graduate of Millbrook High School in Raleigh and of IBM’s Model Maker Internship. While working for IBM, Ken worked in Raleigh, NC, Austin, TX, And Charlotte, NC, and traveled extensively in Taiwan and the United States.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by a brother, H.C. Dorman.

Survivors: Ken is survived by his wife Alice Yvonne Dorman; son, Barry Driver of Garner; step-daughters, Wanda Lowder and Tammy Harward both of Albemarle; brothers, Charles Dorman of Raleigh and Larry Dorman of Atlanta; sister, Elizabeth Dorman Fox of Atlanta. Grandchildren, Grayson and Curtis Driver, Brittney Lowder, Alyssa Lowder, Matthew Bell, Dusty Coley and Jessica Coley; great granddaughters, Aubree and Audrina Coley; and 4 nieces and 4 nephews.

Memorials may be made in honor of Ken to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081.

    To the family of Kenneth Dorman,

    Our condolences go out to each of you.

    Kenneth certainly was brave, he endured so much pain and suffering in his last years.
    The last time we saw him was at the Clary Reunion, he was still smiling.

    Alice , you were a wonderful wife, friend to him..

    To the family:
    Sorry for the loss Ken was a good friend to me and my family we had many of good rounds of golf together and shared an apartment in Austin for awhile I will miss him very much.
