Harry R. Herr of Charlotte, NC and formerly of York, PA died on Wednesday September 27th, 2017 at his home.

He is survived by his wife Betty McClanahan Herr, his children H. Thomas Herr of Mountville, PA and John Herr, Sandra Ridgeley and Nancy Sacripont all of York, PA and his step-daughters Melody Fountain and Marcy McClanahan. Harry was also very proud of his 11 grandchildren and his 4 great-grandchildren.

Harry was predeceased in death by his first wife, Neda Belle Neuhouse Herr, and two sisters, Nancy Sidler and Jean Hamme.

While living in York, PA he was a member of St Matthews Lutheran Church. He was active in the community, serving on the Spring Garden TWP, the Recreation Commission, and served on the boards of several youth organizations. Harry co-founded Herr Tool Sales Company and was a successful business owner for his career. Prior to this, Harry, a US Army veteran, attended both Penn State University and Shippensburg University.

While living in Charlotte, Harry was an active member of St John’s Baptist Church and Carmel Country Club. Harry was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time outdoors in his yard.

Harry will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his unending supply of jokes. He brought light into every room he entered.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm Saturday, September 30^th, at St. John’s Baptist Church (300 Hawthorne Ln. Charlotte, NC 28204) in the sanctuary. A reception to greet the family will immediately follow in Broach Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Charlotte or St John’s Baptist Church.
