Hugh Lee Summerville, 73, of Salisbury passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Hugh was born on December 10, 1941 in Aliceville, Alabama to the late Hugh and Annie Summerville.
Upon graduation he moved to New York in 1962 and later married his lifelong friend and love of his life Emma Lanier. Hugh and Emma moved to New Jersey in 1965 to raise a family. Being with family and friends was a large part of Hugh’s life and one that brought him much joy and satisfaction. This led him to search for a better life for him and his family.
As a result, Hugh studied the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and he was later baptized on October 1974. Throughout the years Hugh enjoyed many theocratic privileges and he showed hospitality to many.
Hugh and Emma lived with their family in New Jersey until retirement. Then they moved to Salisbury, North Carolina. Hugh continued to be actively involved in supporting theocratic activities. One of his greatest joys was working with and encouraging young and old to pursue theocratic goals.
Hugh can be remembered for his warm smile and kind manner. His patience and devotion to family and friends touched the lives of everyone he met.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday December 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Salisbury, NC (3411 Old Concord Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146).
