James Andrew Coleman, 82 of Thomasville passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury. James was born on June 16, 1932 in Guilford County, a son of the late Lester and Pearl Coleman.
James was educated in the High Point School System. James retired from the United States Army after serving for 20 years, he was a Combat Veteran having done tours in Korea and Vietnam. James was a member of the Thomasville American Legion Post 4, and the Thomasville VFW Post 2756. He enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
James is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Hazel Murday Coleman. Sons, Kevin Coleman of Denton, Kenneth Coleman of Florida, and Dusty Coleman Thomasville. Daughters, Kim Walker of High Point, Karen Evans and husband Jackie of High Point, Subina Coleman and Lisa Coleman both of Thomasville. Grandchildren, Kasey and wife Tanya, Hallie Hannah, Michael, Jennifer and Tanner; great grandchildren, Kamran, Carsyn, Charlie, Mason and Will.
Service: There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 12:00 PM at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation PO Box 49, Annandale VA 22003; or to the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center Voluntary Service Office 1600 Brenner Ave Salisbury NC 28144.
