James Howard Hawthorne Jr., 72, of Mt. Ulla North Carolina, passed away on Sunday March 2, 2014 at the W.G.Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina. Mr. Hawthorne Jr. was born on March 9, 1941 to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Howard Hawthorne Sr.. James proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Army.

James worked as a generator technician for Carolina Tractor in the power generation department. He was a talented woodworker and loved animals, fishing, hiking, and being outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, a sister, Barbara George.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Katie Douglas Hawthorne, a son, John Hawthorne of Florida, two daughters, Trish Hawthorne of Jacksonville, FL, and Teeha Carroll and husband Craig of St. Johns, FL, a brother, John Hawthorne of Il, four grandchildren, Ryan, Drew, Lia, and Emma, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Memorial Service on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Salisbury, conducted by minister Joe Bradshaw.
