James Mathew Barbee, 65, of Richfield, passed away on Wednesday May 3, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. James was born on August 22, 1952 in Concord, NC to the late James Crawford Barbee and Ada Hooks Gaines. Mr. Barbee proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corps.

He was a member of Wyatt’s Grove Baptist Church and was the Master Mechanic at Hendrick Toyota of Concord until his retirement. James loved to work on cars and spend time with his family and his poodle “Rowdy”.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Renee Barbee.

James is survived by two daughters, Melissa Reagan and husband Brent of Concord, and Melinda Miller and husband Mike of China Grove; a son, Nick Williams and wife Nicole of Concord; three sisters, Pamela Gibson and husband Gary of Wilkesboro, Lori Boger of Kannapolis, and Debra Jones of Kannapolis; a brother, Darrell Barbee and wife Kathy of Salisbury; five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Wyatt’s Grove Baptist Church (2995 Wyatt’s Grove Church Rd., Richfield, NC 28137).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association, Gift Processing Center (P.O.Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022).
