Johnny Paul Troutman, 85, of Gold Hill, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury.
He was born August 22, 1936 in Concord, NC to the late Lewis Adam Troutman and Zula Burris Troutman. He proudly served in the United States Army. He worked most of his life as a mechanic and truck driver and retired from the Boral Brick Company – formerly Isenhour Brick and Tile. He was a member of the Rockwell Amvets Post 845.
In his spare time he enjoyed anything outdoors – fishing, boating, hunting, sports and the beach. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Life was one big adventure for him, earning the nickname Hobo after stowing away on a train when he was a young boy. He always had a story to tell!
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Bratton Troutman; son, Johnny Keith Troutman; daughter, Paula Faye Troutman; sisters – Shirley Troutman, Alma Roseman, Blanche Burleson, Jeannette Souther, Frankie Shelton, Shelby Jean Miller and Brenda Norris; brothers – Fred Troutman and Tate Troutman.
Johnny is survived by daughters, Teresa Johnston (David) of Salisbury, NC and Susan Troutman of Gold Hill, NC; six grandchildren, Heather Overcash (Derek), Christopher Johnston (Katelyn), Taylor Johnston (Kerri), Brandi Franklin, Kevin Brown, and Cassie Jo Martin; sixteen great grandchildren, Madison, Emmalee, and Greyson Overcash, James and Liam Johnston, Elijah and Mary Franklin, Kaydi Sutphin, Serenity, Brently, and Braylin Brown, Andrew, Corbin and Alyssa Martin and Lily Sbaiti; and two sisters, Kay Cook and Sarah “Mickey” Lowder.
There will be a graveside service with military honors held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 23 at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell, NC.
