Matthew David Young, 54, Rockwell, NC passed away October 14, 2023 at home, from cancer. A memorial will be held from 2pm to 6pm, on Sunday November 05, 2023 at 105 Sage Ln, Rockwell, NC.

The legacy that Matt leaves behind is his heart, and love of others, especially kids. He never met a stranger, accepted everyone as they were, regardless of where they came from or the struggles they faced. The most wonderful thing about Matt was is love of kids! He always understood them and could find joy in every interaction. Those that called him Dad, Uncle or Grand-dude had a special bond with him. That bond meant the whole world to him, even in his last hours.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Mae Schmidtt, his father Lester Leroy Young, and his brother, Lester Leroy Young Jr.

Survivors include his sons, Brendan Wolfe Young and Collin Patrick Young, and step-daughter Miranda Nicole Leonard. Grandson Harvey Leonard and Nieces Mia Swinson, Natalie Leach, and nephews Jacob and Austin Leach.
