Michael “Scott” Johnson 44, of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington after a year long battle with cancer. Scott was born on December 17, 1970 in Lexington, a son of Kenneth Johnson, Sr. and the late Sue Kinney Johnson.
Scott was a 1989 Graduate of West Davidson High School. After high school Scott joined the United States Army, he worked for the City of Lexington in the Water Department. He was a member of New Friendship United Church of Christ; he enjoyed reading, playing table top war games, and he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, Scott is preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Johnson, Jr.
In addition to his father, Scott is survived by his wife of over 12 years, Ashley Beck Johnson who he married on April 12, 2003. His son, Nicholas Scott Johnson of the home; brother, John Johnson and companion Lisa Lohr of Thomasville; sister, Susie Johnson Everhart and husband Mark of Lexington; step-mother, Glenda Johnson; niece, Christy Michael of Portland, OR; and nephew, Mark Johnson of Lexington; father-in-law, Barry Beck and brother-in-law, BJ Beck. Scott is also survived by step-brothers, Dell Phillips, Rodney Phillips and Tim Phillips.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Friendship United Church of Christ conducted by Rev. Butch Conrad, Rev. Alex Nance, and Rev. Carol Dyson. The family with be receiving friends at the home of BJ Beck on Raymond Clodfelter Rd.
