Paul Elbert Carter, 77, of Salisbury, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday July 21, 2018 at Novant Rowan Medical Center. He was born on October 28, 1940 in Dillon County, SC to the late John Elbert Carter and Pauline Johnson Carter. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Army Ranger and was stationed in Germany from 1958-1960 during the Cold War.
Paul was a professional fisherman before becoming a truck driver for Coca-Cola where he retired from. His passions in life included family gatherings, his church, reading books, and watching TV Westerns.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Carter, and a sister, Lena Gulledge.
He is survived by his sister, Maxine Johns; brothers, Robert Carter, and John D. Carter and wife Elaine Carter; stepchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Wesleyan Methodist Church, 4036 Old Concord Rd., Kannapolis, NC 28083, where he was a member, and the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service. Pastor Joe Harding Jr. will be conducting the celebration and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Wesleyan Methodist Church.
