Quentin Lamar Cornwell, 56, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday October 11, 2014 at the W.G. Hefner V. A. Hospice House in Salisbury, NC. Mr. Cornwell was born on August 5, 1958 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Willie Smith Cornwell and Imogene Nolen Cornwell. Quentin proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Supply Specialist Manager.
He worked as a Chef in the restaurant industry, loved sports, enjoyed traveling, and had a passion for long distance running.
“Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I am following the path of God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I’ve found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life has been full, I’ve savored much. Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch. If life seems all too brief. Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart, rejoice with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.”
“Yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” Psalm 23:4.
In addition to his parents, Quentin is preceded by a sister, Sheila Webber.
He is survived by a daughter, Captain Latashya Shameka Cornwell of Houston, TX; four sisters, Robin (Joseph) Tisdell of Jonesboro, GA, Pamala (Robert) Melton of Stone Mountain, GA, Selena (Joseph) Thompson of Charlotte, NC, and April Bright of Hampton, GA; a brother-in-law, Samuel Webber of Jacksonville, FL; and many nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and close friends.
