Mr. Richard Gary Burroughs, 70 passed away January 22, 2012 at the Rowan Regional Medical Center after being ill for 10 years and seriously ill for 1 week, Mr. Burroughs was born July 6, 1941 in Pelzer, SC son of the late Thomas Richard Burroughs and Carrie Lollis Burroughs. He attended Pelzer High School and was retired in 1998 from National Starch and Chemical after 30 years as a foreman. Mr. Burroughs was a member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson, Levi Garth Hager who died May 27, 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Watkins Burroughs who he married in 1963. Two sons, Greg Burroughs and wife Sharon and Jeff Burroughs and wife Jennifer of Salisbury. One daughter, Lisa Hager of Lexington, two sisters, Deb McGuffin and Peggy Scott of Pelzer, SC. Grandchildren are Jessica, Zachery, Justin, Isiah, Matthew and Jason.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, at the Alston-Brook Nursing Home in Lexington. The family will receive friends at the Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Tuesday.
