Ricky “Cowboy” James Testerman, 59, of Lexington, passed away on Thursday September 1, 2016 at High Point Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. Mr. Testerman was born on February 28, 1957 in Davidson County to the late Billy Joe Testerman Sr. and Betty Eddinger Testerman Jacobs.
Ricky worked for Council Craftman in maintenance as well as at Christian Youth Camp in Tecula Falls, Georgia. He hitch hiked all over the country and made it to every state except Alaska and Hawaii. Cowboy, as he was known by everyone, loved to sing and spread the word of God to anyone who would listen. He never met a stranger and he would always call his family and friends to check on them and update them on what everyone else was doing as well. He enjoyed working with children and would do Disney Character impersonations for them. Ricky loved to spend time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and his favorite dog Ricochete. His wife Shirley Ann Shaffer Testerman was the love of his life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Joe Testerman Jr., and Matthew Ray Testerman; grandparents, Buddy and Addie Combs Testerman, and William and Margaret Everhart Eddinger; and great niece, Katlin Bates.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Shirley Ann Shaffer Testerman; two brothers, Charles “Randy” Testerman (Diane) of Lexington, and Paul Testerman of Lexington; two sisters, Donna Jacobs Lawrence (Terry) of Archdale, and Debbie Testerman Hewett (Tony) of Lexington; Aunts and Uncles, Ray Von Eddinger (Marie), Ruby Wright (Gary), Sue Atwood (Eddie), Beverly Ramey, and Nancy Brown; nieces and nephews, Christina Bates (Jason), Ashley Sean, Michelle Burkhart, Jessica Lily, Joshua Cartrette (Heather), Nathan Sean, and Bradley Testerman (Brittany); great nieces and nephews, Millie Hohn, Nia Bates, Rosie Cartrette, Adalie Johnson, Caylin Burkhart, Kadance Testerman, Kali Testerman, Keelyn Testerman, and Zoe Lily, Casie Hohn, Frankie Bates, Justice Bates, Waylen Peeples, Noah Burkhart, Kameron Testerman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday September 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church (455 Freewill Circle, Lexington, NC 27295) conducted by Pastor Drew Lynch and Pastor Doug McGee. The burial will take place following the service in Church Cemetery.
