Ronald “Ronnie” Dean Dunn

Ronald “Ronnie” Dean Dunn, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center. He was born on December 9, 1946 a son of Loraine Dunn and the late Harry Dunn.

Ronnie grew up in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland and spent many childhood summers at Kenwood Beach, Maryland. It was there where Ronnie developed his avid and lifelong love of fishing. He graduated from Bladensburg High School in Maryland and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Army.

Ronnie proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the 25th Infantry Division Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol. He loved helping others and volunteered throughout his life for many different causes including serving on a mission trip to Rwanda, Africa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Sandra Gaile, and brother Harry Dunn.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn of Charlotte; son, Chip Dunn ; daughter, Shannon Godwin and husband, Jim; 9 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly; three siblings, William Dunn, Sandy Beakes and Patricia Skidmore; and his good friend Danny Bradley.

    So sorry to hear this news. Ronny was a good man. Knew him when he was married to Sandra. Loved to fish and tell stories. Sorry for his last years at the via. Prayers for chip and Shannon.
