William Roy Cox II “Billy”, passed away at his home from natural causes on August 7th, 2026. Billy was born June 3rd, 1962 to  Margie Alma Peavy from Charlotte, NC and the late Jerry Lee Cox who was from Charleston, WV. He was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, where he lived with his mother and sister, Teresa. The two also shared a younger sister, Meagan. He wanted a life “out in the country”, and so chose to move to Rowan County, NC to start a family, which is where he had lived and worked for the past almost 40 years.

Billy had many jobs and skills throughout his life, from roofing and building homes in his younger days, to being a mechanic and a truck driver as he got older. He loved classic cars, and enjoyed teaching his daughters essential skills as they grew up, like how to change a flat tire and brake pads, and how to do home repairs. Billy loved his family, lived for his kids and grandkids, and enjoyed taking care of his home, yard, and of course his cat, “Mama Kitty”. He was known in our family for his goofy smile, love of chocolate and peanut butter, and for gifting lottery tickets every year. He was truly one of a kind, and is deeply missed.

Billy was preceded in death by the love of his life Norma Jean Holloway Cox. He loved her dearly with all of his heart.

He is survived by Tiffany Overcash (Daughter) Cody Overcash (Spouse) their children Abigail, Lydia, and Noah (Grandchildren), Heather Cox (Daughter) Chris Barringer (Spouse) their children Joshua and Tessa (Grandchildren), Margie Mullis (Mother), her sister Nancy Walker (Aunt), Teresa Cox (Sister), Meagan Cox (Sister) and her daughter Iona (Niece).
