Dear Zern family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Death is an enemy that we as humans can not defeat. Our loving creator has promised us that through his son Jesus he will eliminate death forever(John11:25,35,36, 41-44). Just knowing that there is hope for our loved ones future gives us the strength to carry on (acts 24:15). My thoughts and prays are with your family at this most difficult time (Jude 2).

Dear Robert: Surely Hazel’s love for God’s word can be expressed by what the psalmist David wrote in Psalm 139:17 “To me how precious your thoughts are! O God, how much does the grand sum of them amount to!” The Bible is precious not only because it gives ample proof of God’s love for us, but it also reveals his purpose to restore the Paradise where violence, accidents, sickness, and death will be no more. Jesus gave this assurance, “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone that beholds the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him at the last day.” (John 6:40; Revelation 21:3, 4) Yes, even our dear loved ones will be resurrected. Until then, weeping is normal, even the perfect man Jesus gave way to tears when his friend Lazarus died. Furthermore, God offers to console us. In 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4, God is called the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation. Another beautiful scripture is Psalms 34:18 “Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” As for Hazel, Jehovah God did not forget her. He wrote her name in his book of remembrance for those thinking upon his name. (Malachi 3:16) For you and your family, may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, comfort your hearts and make you firm in every good deed and word. (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17)
