Abby Lynn Johnson, a 22 year resident of Charlotte, left this life July 18, 2018. Born December 13, 1942 to her loving parents, Irving & Clara Blankman Schwartzbach, she was raised in Brooklyn, New York.
In addition to her parents, Abby was preceded in death by her brother Gary Schwartzbach,
Abby was a well known and admired partner in the Charlotte service community where she worked as a catering director and event planner for over twenty years.
While enjoying her work, Abby’s real passion laid with her family as she always felt that was the only thing that truly mattered. Her big brown eyes always lit up a room. And she brought energy to everyone she met. Her smiles came easy and her outgoing personality and sense of humor made her unforgettable.
She always loved the sun, especially by the water, with a cool breeze if possible. Abby’s favorite color was red and a white gardenia her favorite smell and flower, Her drink of choice was scotch on the rocks with a twist in a tall wine glass a She also had a BIG special spot for our four legged friends. Never met a dog or a cat that she didn’t love and the feelings were mutual. She also loved some choice four letter words, but was always a classy lady through and through until her last breath.
Abby is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Larry A. Johnson of Charlotte; her devoted daughter, Gillian Bell (John) Stevens of Charlotte; grandchildren, Sophia (GG) Dewberry, and Drew (Drewman) Dewberry, and Max, Mo, Buster and Rocco. She will be achingly missed but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Abby’s life will be held September 16 at The Duke Mansion. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made in celebration of her name to the Humane Society of Charlotte.
Carolina Cremation of Charlotte and Salisbury is assisting the Johnson family.
