Alex Freeman, 89, of Mt. Gilead, NC passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Freeman was born on November 14, 1924 in Star County, NC to the late David Freeman and Tiny Green Freeman.
Mr. Freeman worked in the Furniture Manufacturing business and was a member of New Testament Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his favorite dog Skipper. He and his wife, Treva had the habit of just picking and going wherever they wanted to be it, Florida or the mountains without a moments notice. He loved spending time with his family more than anything.
He is survived by his wife, Treva Byrd Freeman; three sons, Dwight Freeman of High Point, Alex Brent Freeman of Mt. Gilead, and Brad Freeman of Mt. Gilead; a daughter, Venessia Hayworth and husband James of Randleman, NC; five step-daughters, Shirley Fitzgerald of Albemarle, Christine Johnson and husband Hilton of Greensboro, Susan Funderburk of Tucson, AZ, Penny Morris and husband Dannie of Siler City, and Kathi Fields of Linville Falls; two step-sons, Johnny Byrd of Franklinville, and Jimmy Fields and wife Amy of Greensboro; a brother, Tommy Freeman of Kannapolis; a sister, Juanita Talbert of Concord; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Hamer Baptist Church in Mount Gilead.
The family request no flowers. Memorials may be made in honor of Mr. Freeman to Community Home Care and Hospice 1024 Albemarle Rd Suite 904 Troy NC 27371.
