Bennie Collins, 80, of Salisbury, joined his heavenly Father on Father’s Day, June 20, 2021.
Born August 10, 1940 in Lyons, Georgia, Bennie was a machinist by trade. He was also a very skilled carpenter and loved spending time in his shop building furniture and other items.
Before Dementia took over his mind, Bennie loved his home in Blairsville, Georgia and spending time on Lake Nottely. He lived the past 4 1/2 years in Salisbury, being cared for by his son. For the last several years of his life, Bennie adored his pet cat, Buddy, who was a great companion.
Bennie was preceded in death by his mother, Vernell Collins.
Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Darla Pantelakis (David); Mindie Knowles (Robert), all of Florida; Kamala Yepes (Tony) of Arizona; Rory Collins (Traci) of Salisbury; and Lorie Collins Hill of China Grove. He was also blessed with 9 grandchildren, Andrew, Adam and Ethan Knowles; Caleb and Wade Page; Chandler Collins; and Gavin, Trinity and Lilly McCulloh.
The family will have private memorial to share and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Rd. Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
