Betty Jean Foil Holshouser, 82, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016. She was born February 1, 1934 in Stanly County to the late Horace Elwood Foil, Sr. and Catherine Barringer Foil.
Church and faith were very important to Betty – who always emphasized “Living it Everyday” with respect and common decency. Most special to her was the love she had for family, especially her three grandchildren, Christopher, Audrey and Lillian. Betty loved playing the piano in her younger years, at home and at church. She enjoyed all types of music. She was a kind and loving lady, who never complained or had a bad thing to say about anyone. Over the last year, Betty made many dear friends while living at Trinity Place in Albemarle.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Glenn J. Holshouser; daughter, Anne Webster and husband, Dodd of Clayton, NC; son, Phillip Holshouser and wife, Kara of Marietta, GA; grandchildren Christopher Lee and fiancé Jennifer of Raleigh, NC, Audrey Holshouser and Lillian Holshouser, both of Marietta, GA. Also surviving are her sister, Sue Foil Walker and husband Morgan; brother, Horace Elwood Foil Jr.; and cousins, Ann Barringer, Carolyn Barringer Corl, Robert Dry Barringer, Frankie Barringer, David Barringer, and Scott Barringer .
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Main Street United Methodist Church (1100 West Main Street, Albemarle, NC). The family will have an informal visitation following the service.
Betty and Glenn were blessed with many friends throughout life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church.
