Betty Jo Powell, 90, of Salisbury, went to be with her Lord and her husband, Ned on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.

Betty Jo was born April 2, 1929 in Lenoir, NC to Albert Ernest Pierce and Malonia Bishop Pierce. She graduated from Lenoir High School and went to Mars Hill College where she was in their Business Club and was a College Marshall. She graduated with honors in Business. Betty Jo married Ned A. Powell on September 27, 1953. They moved to Salisbury in 1956 when Ned was employed by the NC Dept of Agriculture. She worked in Material Sales and was the office manager and bookeeper for the company BV Hedrick Sand and Gravel for 46 years. She retired on December 31, 2000.

Betty Jo and Ned loved going to Myrtle Beach, SC. They enjoyed walking on the beach and going out to eat good seafood. She was member of Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, and she loved her Sunday school class.

Those left to cherish her memory include, daughter, Kelly Renee Powell of Salisbury, NC; and grand fur babies, Tessa, Ziva and Abby.

As my mom’s daughter, I have to say I was and am very proud of her and to say she was my mom. Being her daughter was an honor for me. I had two of the greatest parents in the world and I am very proud of both of them. They are both missed so much. I thank the good Lord for giving me such wonderful people as my parents. I love you Mom and Dad.
