Bill Greenstreet, 90, of Salisbury, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, following an extended battle with cancer. A private memorial service will be held to honor his life.
Born on November 19, 1934, in Loup, Nebraska, Bill was raised on a family farm in Minnesota, where he developed a deep connection to nature and a lifelong appreciation for animals. A proud “farm boy” at heart, he carried the values of hard work and humility throughout his life.
Bill pursued a successful career as a chemical engineer, dedicating 27 years to Firestone Tire and Rubber before retiring. Beyond his professional achievements, he was an avid traveler who cherished exploring new places, a devoted member of his church, and a volunteer who gave generously of his time and talents to others.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy (Hancock) Greenstreet; his children, David Greenstreet, Dean Greenstreet, and Glen (Michelle Hooth) Greenstreet; his stepdaughter, Dr. Cynthia (David) Bettinger; and his grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Sarah, Duncan, and Spenser Bettinger, Colton and Kelli Dye, Ryan and Emma Greenstreet, and Alyn (Erik) Szymanski.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Aural (Stevens) Greenstreet; his sister, Jessie Harper; and his stepdaughter, Toni Dye.
