B.J. (Bobbie Jean) Williams, of Salisbury, went to be with her heavenly Father early Saturday, December 21, 2013, having fought a long battle with leukemia. B.J. was born June 22, 1940 in Tullahoma, Tennessee and grew up in Tampa, Florida.
B.J. Retired as a Vice President of Textron Corp. and is listed in Whose Who as the first female executive of General Electric Corp. and Textron Corp. She was formerly on the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House of Augusta, GA.. She was also on the board of In Focus Ministries of India, a Charitable Trust in India for the purpose of spreading the Gospel in India. She had been a participant in two mission trips to India. She was also an active member of Genesis Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Williams to whom she was married for 31 years.
Surviving is her husband, Dr. David J. Steagall, a son H. Kenneth Williams and wife, Diane, and children; Lizzie, Alex, Amanda and Hallee; a daughter Kim Brimer and son Chris and his wife Brooke and children Max and Jamie and son Matt Brimer.
B.J. Was a faithful and loving wife, mother, and friend who enjoyed life always with a good sense of humor and a positive attitude. One of her recent birthday presents was a ride in a race car around Charlotte Motor Speedway at 180 mph. That was the way she lived.
A Memorial Service is to be held for B.J. On Sunday afternoon December 29, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Genesis Baptist Church, 9710 Old Concord Road, China Grove, NC 28023.
