Bobby Lee Dickens, Sr. 64 of Lexington passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Hinkle Hospice House. Bobby was born on December 22, 1949 in Davidson County, a son of the late Clyde Eugene and Helen Hedgecock Dickens.
Bobby attended Lexington High School and had worked in the furniture industry. He attended Presnells Chapel Church in Watauga County. Bobby enjoyed hunting and loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a volunteer fireman at Churchland Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Lee Dickens, Jr., and a brother, Roy Dickens
Survivors: Bobby is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Joyce Christine Dickens who he married on August 3, 1968. Sons, Timmy Dickens and wife Suzanne of Lexington and Charlie Dickens and wife Nancy of Mooresville. Brothers, Clyde Dickens and wife Carolyn, Neil Dickens, Charles Dickens and wife Kaye and Allen Dickens and wife Judy. Sisters, Doris Boles, Carrie Baumhauer and Wanda Alexander; brother-in-laws, Jack Hicks and Jessie Hicks and wife Gina. Grandchildren, Carrie, Nathan, Mikel, Joshua, Emmalee and Austin.
Service: Friends are invited to a covered-dish meal to celebrate Bobby’s life at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Tyro United Methodist Church. The Rev. Randy Foster will give words of encouragement. The family will be at the home of Timmy Dickens (509 Simmerson Road, Lexington NC) the remainder of the time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hinkle Hospice House 200 Hospice Way Lexington NC 27292.
