Bruce Wayne Casey, 70, of Rockwell, passed away on Friday April 15, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family. Mr. Casey was born on May 4, 1945 in Rowan County, NC to the late Junior Harvey Casey and Katherine Green Casey.
He was a graduate of East Rowan High School and was the owner and operator of his own truck driving business. Bruce was a member of Sloan Lake Community Church and served as a Deacon of the church as well. He enjoyed deer and raccoon hunting as well as riding horses. He looked forward every year to the annual “Brotherhood fishing trip” at the Outer Banks with other members of his church. Bruce loved driving his truck and his C.B handle was “Rag Man”. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Penny Lynn Casey of Rockwell; four sons, Mike Casey of Kannapolis, Rick Casey and wife Amanda of Matthews, Chad Athey and wife Aimee of Rockwell, and Bryant Casey of Salisbury; a brother, Harvey Casey of Bueno Park, CA; a sister, Margaret Gobble and husband Robert of Spencer; six grandchildren, Amber Williams, Kaley Brooke Casey, Jessica Casey, Taylor Casey, Sawyer Smallwood, and Shakia Smallwood; and three great grandchildren, Kevin Wyatt, Candace Wyatt, and Adam Ortiz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday April 22, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Sloan Lake Community Church conducted by Rev. Zach Sizemore. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 6:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
