Candace Laverne Norwood, 64, of Youngstown, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. She was born on August 18, 1954 in Youngstown, OH to the late Blakely Mckelley and Laverne Mitchell.
Candace retired as a Supervisor of Collection at the Youngstown Water Dept. and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. She was a 1972 graduate of South High School in Youngstown OH and enjoyed time in Sweden as a foreign exchange student in 1971. She enjoyed cooking and working in her garden growing flowers and vegetables. Candace was a avid reader and she loved to travel to new places with her family. She was a strong willed hard working woman, who never let anyone tell her what she couldn’t do. Candace was a real life Wonder Woman.
Candace is survived by her husband of 38 years, Malcolm Norwood of Youngstown, OH; her son, Michael Norwood of Charlotte; her daughter, Leslie Dawn Norwood of Charlotte; her grandson Michael Heard III of Charlotte; and her sister Carolyn Mckelley of Youngstown.
