Carlton “Carl” Henry Shedrick Sr. passed away May 26, 2026 peacefully at his home in Cleveland, NC after a lengthy illness. Carl was born on August 26, 1954 in St Albans, VT to George and Louise (Lackey) Shedrick.

Carl enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar and most of all time spent with his family. In earlier years,  Carl’s siblings could count on him showing up on a random Saturday or Sunday for coffee and reminiscing and up until last year he looked forward  to family trips to VT with his wife, children and grandchildren every July.

Carl is survived by his wife of 49 years, JoAnn (Duprey) Shedrick; his children, William Duprey and wife, Ita of Mylasia, Carlton Shedrick Jr and wife, Amy of Waterbury, Vt and Denielle Shedrick of Cleveland, NC; his grandchildren, Alex Shedrick of NC, Mela Duprey of FL and Yvette Shedrick of VT.

Carl is survived by siblings, Sherry Decell (Norbert), Cheryl Jordan, Terry Shedrick, John Chase (Becky) and Pauline Benway; his sister-in-laws and brother in law, Carol Doner, Robert Duprey (Sharon), Linda Richard and Terri Goss (Jack); special nephew Dan “Boone” Shedrick,  lifelong friend Carmi Robtoy and several nieces and nephews.

Carl is predeceased by his parents; siblings, Daniel and Larry Shedrick; father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Janet Duprey;and brother-in-laws, Peter Doner and Larry Richard.

The family would like to thank Amber, Sarah and JoAnn at Hospice of Iredell County for the compassion and care provided to Carl.
