Cecil Lewis Almond 69, of Locust passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Cecil was born on January 21, 1946 in Stanly County, son of the late Buford and Louise Hinson Almond.
Cecil was a graduate of Bethel School in Midland. He is a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart after being injured in battle. Cecil and his father Buford owned and operated B & C Sewing, and later in life Cecil was owner and operator of Almond Contracting.
Cecil was a member of First Baptist Church of Locust. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, tinkering and working with his hands.
In addition to his parents, Cecil is preceded in death by his brother, Roy Almond.
Cecil is survived by his daughter, Varonda Almond of Locust; son, Stewart Wayne Kirk of Mt. Pleasant; and sisters, Kamela Efird of Mt. Pleasant and Lynn Austin and husband Dale of Locust.
There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Locust 320 S. Central Ave. Locust NC 28097, conducted by Dr. Tommy Ross, Jr. Pastor, and Rev. Mike Burris.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church following the service, and at the home of daughter, Varonda Almond the remainder of the time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made at to Tucker Hospice House 5005 Hospice Lane Kannapolis NC 28081.

I am so sorry of the passing of Mr. Cecil, “big cec” as I would call him, he was a pleasure to take of, during his coming and going at Big Elm, I say you just cant stay away, he would laugh and say no i love yall, I loved him also, remember God loved him first, look to God family..
