Verne Brady says
To Mrs. Peggy and all the Stone family, my deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers as I share in your mourning. Charlie was not only a fellow employee and colleague in the fly shop at Bass Pro Shop but also a dear friend whose memory I will always cherish. When we weren’t talking fishing between serving customers, our conversations often dealt with solving the “problems of the world” as we put it. Above all, his love of Mrs. Peggy and family was always an underlying theme to his life.

I just learned from Verne about Charlie’s passing, when I was at the fly shop the other day. It had been awhile since I had been at the store.
Laurie, my wife, and I are very saddened and want to express our condolences to each of you in Charlie’s family, especially to you Peggy, and we will be praying for you, as well, as you go through this difficult time.
Charlie and I worked together for many years, and I recall the first time we met at the fly shop. Both of us had previously lived in Roanoke, VA, so we hit it off right away to become great colleagues. Over the years our friendship grew, and of course the number of fishing tales grew, too, which all of us fisherman know, don’t always have to be 100% true! Charlie could spin a tale with the best of ’em!
Charlie will be truly missed by many, both associates and customers at BassPro, as well as other friends and family, I’m sure!
His love for our Lord above was a wonderful witness about what is important in life, and, I am sure that if there are any fish to be caught on that river in heaven, the good lord gave Charlie a great spot on it for fly fishing!
May Charlie rest in peace now…
Our thoughts & prayers,
Keith & Laurie Bartgis
