The 15th of April 2015 marked the unexpected passing of Claude Jacob Schneider of Jonas Ridge, NC who expired peacefully in his home. He was born April 12, 1932, in Wisconsin Rapids, WS, to the late Joseph F. Schneider Sr. and Cayrl Cooley Schneider. He graduated Port Edwards High School in WS, and achieved a BFA degree from Layton School of Arts in Milwaukee, WS.

Claude was a lifetime artist. In his earlier years he worked in furniture sales, then as a fine artist for various companies throughout his career and was a contributor for the High Point furniture market until retirement. God blessed him with talent in his hands, and he continued to paint pastel pictures and build frames in his home-based “Time Ago Again” studio while he taught art classes at Land Harbor Resort. He was involved in Jonas Ridge Vol. Fire Dept., Ruritans, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He attended Crossnore Presbyterian Church and loved his church family. He enjoyed entertaining his family and giving his grandchildren art lessons.

His hobbies were art, illustrating children’s books, collecting antiques, woodworking, and bird watching.

Schneider was preceded in death by his loving wife Beth Harrison Schneider (2014), daughter Laura Diedrick, brothers Clarence, Art and Joe Schneider, and brother-in-law Bill Hodge.

Claude is survived by son David Schneider (Vickie) of Statesville, daughter Jennifer Banner of SC, son-in-law Tom Diedrick, five grandchildren, Tiffany Plemmons (Ryan), Bonnie Banner, Robin Banner, Amy Schneider, Dale Schneider, and a great-grandchild Nolan Harrison Plemmons. Also surviving: sister Patsy Blythe and family, sister-in-laws Rita and Joye and families, all from Wisconsin. He is remembered by special friends Ed Slate, Edward Neff, Ellen Johnson, Will McLachlan, John Bates, all of his dear friends in Gingercake Acres and his beloved cat, Purrcy.

There will be a memorial service at 2pm on May 2, 2015, at Crossnore Presbyterian Church, 200 Chapel Drive, Crossnore NC 28616. Rev. Kathy Campbell will officiate.
