Colise “Marlene” Poore Yontz, 84, of Salisbury, NC, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026 following a courageous journey with Lewy Body Dementia.
Born on August 5 to Roy and Thora Poore, Marlene grew up in Saltville, VA. After graduating from Saltville High School, she met the love of her life, Garland Yontz. The two were married in 1959 and shared a beautiful life together, eventually welcoming their son, Jeff.
Marlene’s greatest joy was found in her family. She cherished every moment watching her granddaughters grow, and that happiness only deepened with the arrival of her “precious” and her “super-star,” Ella and Shana. To Marlene, being a grandmother and great-grandmother was her life’s highest calling.
Her memory will be cherished by her son, Jeff Yontz and his wife Dallene; granddaughter Kristen Yontz Miller (Shane) ; and her great-granddaughters, Ella Yontz and Shana Miller. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy Heath and Janet Hylton. Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Garland; her granddaughter, Kathryn Yontz; her parents; her brothers, Roy Poore Jr. and Ted Poore; and her sister, Norma Taylor.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. They are currently receiving guests at the family home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Marlene’s honor to Trellis Supportive Care, whose kindness and support have been invaluable.
Carolina Cremation is assisting the Yontz family. Online condolences maybe made at www.carolinacremation.com.
