Curtis Ray Shaffer, 62, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away at his residence on October 20, 2016. Curtis was born in Corpus Christi, TX to the late Brady Shaffer and Juanita Shaffer Penninger on July 29, 1954.
He proudly served in the US Navy, working on the USS Independence CV62. Curtis enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Teresa “Terri” DeBoe Shaffer, whom he married February 12, 1982; sons, Richard “Rick” Shaffer of Granbury, TX; Randall Shaffer of Kannapolis; daughters, Krista Vick (John) of Albermarle; Jamie Lovingood (Justin) of Rockwell; brother, David McIntyre (Holly) of Winston Salem; sister, Cheryl Shaffer-Ewing of Midland; grandchildren, Maddisyn Hatley, Molly Hatley, Cayden Vick, Carson Lovingood; and his beloved boxer, Cami.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Tuesday October 25th, at 10:00 AM at the Salisbury National Cemetery (501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144) conducted by Rev. Ed Hall. Military Honors will be provided by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard, United States Navy Honor Guard, and the Patriot Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Cabarrus County Hospice and Palliative (5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis, NC 28081).
