Damon and I were one year apart & grew up next door to each other in Arbor Acres. We climbed trees, fished in the neighborhood pond, found ALL the red dirt/mud in the neighborhood to get into & scoured creeks for crawdads and tadpoles. We grew up, went our separate ways, and in 2003, I was re-connected with Damon through his Dad and partner Judy. Spoke to him several times while he was still in Myrtle Beach. I was SO GLAD he came back here but I once again lost touch. He loved his daughter immensely – he told me so. He wanted to get Makayla out of the situation they dealt with in Myrtle Beach and back to a “normal” life here in Lexington. I’m not sure what happened that fateful day January 6, but I DO know that Damon did not deserve that…no matter WHAT the circumstances are/were. I read Barry Weaver’s comments on Facebook. I APPLAUD you “Mr. Weaver” for taking the time to tell Damon’s story. He knew MUCH MORE about Damon’s later years and confirmed that Damon was STILL my same “little buddy” from next door!
Damon, I will NEVER forget you!

Beth & Makayla, I was so sorry to hear about Damon’s passing. My brother Roger called while ago to tell me the news. Please know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. May God give you strength and wisdom, and the comfort and peace that only He can give. Love you, Cousins!

Louise Dry Roberts says
Dear Makayla and Beth,
I have just learned about the sudden loss of your dear father and son, Damon. You don’t remember me, I’m certain. I am your Grandfather Nick’s cousin. You, Beth, remember my dad, David Atwell Dry, I’m sure. It’s so sad to lose a loved one. We lost my brother, Jerry, the end of February. So sad that after Mimi and Mo passed, the Dry family became so distant. Hopefully, we can meet again someday if you’d like. Keeping you both in our thoughts and prayers. Louise
