Daphne Louise Swicegood Church, 85, of Lexington, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.
She was born January 4, 1934 in Davidson County, NC to the late Woodson Swicegood and Afton Williams Swicegood. Daphne retired from PPG where she worked as a glass winder. She was a member of Tyro Fire Department Auxiliary and a lifelong member Chuchland Baptist Church. In her spare time, loved traveling and going on bus trips, quilting, crocheting, coin collecting and canning, especially her homemade ketchup.
In addition to her parents, Daphne was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Powers; sisters, Leona Hartley, Lois Snider, and Helen Hodges.
Daphne is survived by her daughters, Karen Simerson (Billy) and Phyllis Swink (Charles) both of Lexington; sons, Mark Church (Michelle) of Lexington and Bruce Church (Valynn) of Utah; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at 4 PM on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Tyro United Methodist Church, 4484 S North Carolina Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295. Family and friends will gather after the service at the Tyro Fire Department, 4645 S North Carolina Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
In leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144, or to a charity of the donors choice.
