David Allen Safrit , 62, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
He was born July 30, 1956 in Salisbury, NC to the late Frank Safrit and Stella Bradshaw Safrit. David was a 1974 graduate of East Rowan High School and later received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from UNC-Charlotte. David worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad and then taught English at East Rowan High School. David was a former Karate teacher and earned a black belt. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing piano and spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by brother in law, Toby Honeycutt; grand-nephews, Michael Yang and Drew Hill.
David is survived by his siblings, Ron Safrit (Ruth) of Richfield; Larry Safrit (Lynn) of Salisbury; and Rhonda Honeycutt of Rockwell; and numerous, nieces and nephews.
A private service of remembrance will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael Yang Foundation, 102 Wyndham Way, Salisbury, NC 28147.
