Dennis Lewis Thompson, 78, of Rockwell, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the W.G. Bill Hefner V.A. Medical Center. Dennis was born on July 14, 1934 in Rockfish, N.C., son of the late Harvey Lewis and Margie Lamb Thompson.

Dennis was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He worked in the textile industry, and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by a son, Danny Lewis Thompson, and sisters, Anna Lee Nesbit, Barbara Pierce and Ida Powlas.

Survivors: Dennis is survived by his son, Ronnie Thompson of Denton, daughters, Bonnie Gainus of Denton, and Donna Cauble of Rockwell. Sister, Betty Goodman and husband Clyde of Rockwell. Grandchildren, Keith Martin, Steven Martin, Crystal Martin and Zachery Canup, and great grandchildren, Diamond and Dustin, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at the Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the V.A. Medical Center for their love, care and support during Dennis’s time there.
